Gosh Do We Miss Spring Home Shows

It was March 2020.  We were busily working away on a brand new display booth for the upcoming Saskatoon HomeStyles and Saskatoon Gardenscape spring home shows.  Thankfully, in 2019, we had built a big new beautiful trade show booth for the Regina Spring Home Show that we have full intention of using again for the Regina show in 2020.

Keep in mind that during this exact time, we were also working hard to get BOTH of our stores up and running and ready for spring.  Our Regina location had moved to a new location with more building and more yard space, while at the same time, we were opening our Saskatoon location in a beautiful, brand new building and yard.

"Does spring even really start until spring home show weekend?"

So we didn't really have much time to spare, nor to spend on unneeded tasks.  But spring home shows have always been something we partake in, and 2020 was no exception.  We were looking forward to the Spring Home Show, Gardenscapes, and HomeStyles in a big way.  Did we have the time to commit to them?  No, not really.

But there we were feverishly building our brand new display.  It would be our first impression with the residents of Saskatoon.  20,000 people would walk by and see that there was this cool new deck store in town - something like they've never seen before!  The ULTIMATE renovation retail store for the outdoors!

    And then the emails came.

"Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the difficult decision has been made to cancel/postpone the **insert show name here**."

Gut wrenching.  We were waiting for this.  But we were also REALLY looking forward to these shows.  Not only because they are important to us as a way to expose our business to thousands of people, but because we GENUINELY love working these shows.  Wade and I (owners of TUDS) are people people through and through.  We love talked to people about our passion - or anything really.  So to not have that "season kickoff" with thousands of our new closest friends, was a tough pill to swallow.

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise.  Maybe the universe knew we had bit off more than we could chew.  Maybe something out there knew we needed a break to focus on our store builds.  So in an odd way, it probably worked out for the better.

But man, we miss it.  Back then, we didn't really fathom that these canceled shows wouldn't be back in 2021.  But here we are again.  Spring home show time.  This time there's no surprises.  We have known for some time now that the shows wouldn't happen.

But please... PRETTY PLEASE!  Let's get back to normal soon so we can see you all again at the Regina Spring Home Show, Saskatoon Gardenscape, and Saskatoon HomeStyles again in 2022.  If not...then party at our place.  And you're ALL invited!
